THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. Due to prolific rain, the Tar River will be at flood stage on July 27. High, fast-moving water is not conducive to a safe cleanup. Organizers are working with the City of Greenville to reschedule Splash for Trash.

Splash for Trash is back! Everyone is invited to come down to the river for a Tar River clean-up on July 27. Always a popular event, Splash for Trash is a community service project hosted by the Greenville Rotary Clubs to promote recreational use and the clean up of the Tar River in Pitt County. By land and sea (*you're encouraged to bring your own watercraft), participants will scour the shoreline and river for trash that can gathered up and put in its rightful place. Sound Rivers' staff will be on hand to help with this event and clean up the Tar River!

Join us for the biggest, bestest cleanup celebration of the Neuse River!

Sound Rivers is proud to team up with Orvis Raleigh, Neuse River Outfitters and Neuse River Brewing for this epic river clean-up and afterparty on Aug. 4.

Check in is at 9 a.m. at the Anderson Point/Neuse River Greenway parking lot. Participants will then be shuttled to their kayaks or, if you choose to clean up by land, you'll be heading up the Neuse River Greenway. If you're on the water, rafts with water and beverages will be staged along the paddle.

After the clean-up, everyone's invited to the Crabtree Creek shelter (the smaller shelter) in Anderson Point Park from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate your hard work! Craft beer from Neuse River Brewing and a food truck will be joining us and Loose on the Neuse logo T-shirts, pint glasses and stickers will be given out to all participants. Prizes will be awarded for "Best Instagram Photo" of the clean-up, "Most Interesting Piece of Trash" and the "Trash Monster Prize," to the dirtiest and most-dedicated litter terminator. Great items will be raffled off ($5 for eight tickets, $20 for 16, or $20 for 30 tickets.

And 15% of proceeds from total sales will go to Sound Rivers, as well as raffle ticket proceeds.
