Sound Rivers Board

JoSeth Bocook has returned for a second stint on Sound Rivers’ board of directors.

After serving as board president, JoSeth rotated off the board at the end of 2024, and less than a year later, he’d committed to joining again.

He said the choice was an easy one: “I wanted to be back in the room with thoughtful leaders and a staff whose passion for the work is unrivaled.”

Director of Development Services in the City of Rocky Mount’s planning department, JoSeth said he was originally drawn to Sound Rivers’ mission after seeing its work on social media.

“After meeting with the then-executive director, I joined the board to offer a different perspective and represent a demographic and set of experiences that weren’t yet reflected in the leadership,” he said.

A native of Tarboro, JoSeth has a deep appreciation for the waterways flowing through eastern North Carolina.

“The Tar River has been a constant in my life since my childhood in Tarboro, and it remains a vital part of my daily sense of peace and place,” JoSeth said. “I find that time spent by the water just soothes my soul. Water is life-giving. Safeguarding the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico watersheds is a worthy endeavor that ensures our region remains a place where people can thrive for years to come.”
