Sound Rivers Board

Betsy Hester is a retired educator and longtime Sound Rivers’ member and volunteer. Along with her husband, Joe, Betsy has given countless hours of her time and effort to the clean-water cause for more than three decades. The couple splits their time between Rocky Mount and Washington, where they enjoy getting out on the Pamlico River.

Betsy believes everyone should be a part of the clean-water cause: “What can we do? We can invest in the earth. We can educate ourselves. We can get involved locally in organizations that work to protect our environment. … Remember, there is no Planet B.”
