Sound Rivers partnered with the Neuseway Nature Park in Kinston to host the first-ever Kinston Kids Riverfest on Saturday, April 7th. Despite a stormy forecast and a rather dreary afternoon, almost 350 people came out to the park to enjoy all the free entertainment. In between rain showers kids enjoyed a dance party and hula hoop contest with Flimsy da Clown, but when the rain started falling kids were jamming to Pamlico Joe & Clean Water Flo.
Inside the nature center there were plenty of different animals to see and learn about, some were even out for kids to touch! The science and learning building was host to many activities such as water bracelet making, a way to teach kids about river pollution. The NC Aquarium brought several of their reptiles to show. Kids were able to touch turtles and snakes as well as some non-living animal parts like alligator skin.
Everywhere you turned there was fun to be had, even if you had to run through some rain to get to it! Check out this great piece about the event by WNCT here.
