Tar River, Tarboro vicinity – The Panola Farm Platform, located about two miles upstream of Shiloh Landing, is the closest of our Edgecombe County platforms to downtown Tarboro. Situated on the high south bank of the river, just below the Daniel Street bridge and a few miles below the confluence of Fishing Creek and the Tar River, the Panola Platform provides a wonderful stay in a unique section of the river. Through paddlers can enjoy the Tarboro section of the river at a leisurely pace and find plenty of sandbars for resting areas. Enjoy great striped bass habitat along the way during the spring spawning runs.

*Paddler Safety Note: The access to this site, located on a bluff, is a set of stairs on the righthand bank. At low water, you may have to scramble up a bank to the lowest steps. Please use caution when accessing the site after high water flows.
