The John Vollmer Memorial Platform, constructed in April 2014 is located along the Tar River near Bunn, NC in Franklin County. The site, generously donated by Mr. Russ Vollmer in memory of his father, John Vollmer, and building funds donated by Novozymes, Inc, is located on the beautiful Vollmer Farm. This site is presently our most upstream camping platform and is located on a beautiful stretch of the river. Situated below Louisburg, one can view the most upstream cypress trees and a plethora of wildlife. Camping doesn’t get any better! The platform is 16′ by 32′ and half of it is enclosed with a roof and screened-in area for those buggy or rainy nights. Take-out at this site maybe challenging at low water. All sites are only accessible by water.
