Maya Hardison

Water-Quality Intern

Maya Hardison joined the Sound Rivers’ staff as a water-quality intern in September. Maya is tasked with tracking down pollution sources in southeast Raleigh’s Walnut Creek watershed and presenting her findings to the watershed’s denizens. From a young age, Maya was an avid volunteer eager to help others, solve problems, and have a positive, meaningful impact. With the help of a mentor figure, she converted a passing interest in the natural environment into a passion to conserve it. Volunteering with the Carolina Wetlands Association and We Plant it Forward, as well as being a crew member in the Conservation Corps, bolstered this passion, spurring her to pursue a degree in Environmental Technology and Management at N.C. State University, serve the Walnut Creek watershed’s community, and join Sound Rivers.
