Loose on the Neuse volunteers prepare to take off from the beach near Milburnie Dam.

Loose on the Neuse 2025 was a paddling, trash-removing success on Aug. 3.

With 80 community members working together, 620 pounds of trash was pulled out of the Neuse River in Raleigh.

“I want to stress that this number is even more impressive knowing that much of this was floating plastic,” said Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop.

Sound Rivers is sending out a huge “Thank you!” to all of our sponsors, partners, and volunteers for helping this year’s event be one of our best. Special thanks to the following partners: Neuse River Outfitters, Neuse River Brewing Company, City of Raleigh, Triangle Fly Fishers, Great Outdoor Provision Company (Raleigh), Founders Brewing Company, and Orvis.
