WHAT A MATCH!

Spring has sprung, and so has Sound Rivers’ annual April Match campaign! And this year, Sound Rivers is putting out an unprecedented challenge.

Sound Rivers is honored to be the recipient of a generous challenge, courtesy of some VERY generous supporters: every dollar donated during the month of April will be matched up to $50,000!

That means a gift of any amount will go twice as far to support Sound Rivers’ programs: more trash traps for Litter-Free Rivers; more green infrastructure for the Campus Stormwater Program; more water-quality testing for Swim Guide; and more trainings and resources for a growing army of Water Watchers across the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico watersheds.

Those doubled gifts will also help fund your Riverkeeping team’s pollution investigations, a critical part of Sound Rivers’ work to keep your waterways healthy.

Your donations this April will not only be doubled, they will directly impact the fight for clean water in our communities!

Do you have a Donor Advised Fund from Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon Charitable Gift Fund? You can use the form below to make a grant directly to Sound Rivers!

And anyone with a Donor Advised Fund can participate in the #HalfMyDAF Challenge, where charities you grant to are eligible for matching funds if you pledge to spend half your DAF by June 28! More info on that program here.

If you are 70 ½ or older and have an IRA, making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) to Sound Rivers is a tax-smart way to make a donation. The QCD allows you to direct IRA distributions – up to $108,000 per year – to qualified 501(c)3 charitable organizations like Sound Rivers. Because the IRA income goes directly to charity, you do not report the distribution as income and do not pay any taxes on the QCD. This may be beneficial if you must take required minimum distributions (RMDs), but don’t require the additional money. In addition to avoiding taxable income, your distribution will support Sound Rivers’ critical work to protect the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico rivers.
