Lisa Smith-Gargaro, owner of Capelli Salon in Washington, NC
Why I Give, with Capelli Salon

Lisa Smith-Gargaro is the woman behind Capelli Salon, and also a wonderful supporter of the work we do at Sound Rivers. Lisa has been a hair stylist for 36 years, and opened Capelli Salon 13 years ago in historic downtown Washington, NC. She was first introduced to Sound Rivers (then PTRF) by several of her clients, who also happen to be on our staff! Lisa says, “Being ‘green’ and giving back to my community has always been of interest to me.”
She continues, “Having clean water and protecting our rivers and sounds really is a ‘full circle’ endeavor.” Lisa’s salon chose Sound Rivers as their charity for Aveda’s Earth Month in April, to coincide with Sound Rivers’ April Matching Challenge. Lisa’s dedication to promoting Sound Rivers to her clients raised over $2,700 to help us meet our match!
In talking to Lisa more about her dedication to clean water, she says it’s common sense. “Tourism is directly affected by dirty waterways. If tourism is down, that’s going to affect local businesses.”
“Any and all support is necessary to protect our rivers and sounds. Everyone has to be responsible in some way to help with this enormous task,” she said.
Lisa continued, “Water is life; without it, we would have no life. We must fight hard for our environment and clean water.”
Thank you so much Lisa! Your support, and the support of all our members, means so much to us!
