Did you miss the November Tell Me About It Tuesdays with Jess Hawkins? Never fear! You can watch it here! Jess Hawkins talked about the major water quality and fisheries issues of the Pamlico-Tar River then and now. He grew up on the Pamlico and had a long career as a biologist, studying fisheries and environmental issues on the river from 1978 to 1996. He continued to deal with those issues as Assistant to the Director of North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries, developing statewide policy, and as an appointed member of the Marine Fisheries Commission.
Jess also served on the board of the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation for several years, and, now retired, continues to engage in policy development on water quality and fisheries as a consultant and an instructor at Duke Marine Lab and North Carolina State University’s Center for Marine Sciences and Technology lab.
