Tar-Pamlico Water Trail Grows – Three New Platforms in Beaufort County

Residents and visitors to Beaufort County now have three new locations to camp along the Pamlico region’s beautiful waterways. Three new platforms were completed this spring on Blounts Bay, Broad Creek and the Tar River just upstream of the Highway 17 bridge as reported on WNCT-TVOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA. These screened in campsites offer water adventurers a bug-free rest, while listening to the sounds of gentle waves along the shore.

Sound Rivers is taking steps to promote use of the Tar-Pamlico and Neuse River systems. Sound Rivers now has 8 camping platforms available on the Tar-Pamlico for daily rental, with approved funding to complete six additional more. In addition, 3 new ADA compliant kayak launches will be constructed in Greenville and Washington, improving access for all who want to enjoy the beauty that our rivers provide.

The Neuse is now part of the Mountain to Sea Trail, and grant application will be made later this year to fund the first two platforms on the Neuse. For more info visit tarpamlicowatertrail.org and ncmst.org.
