On January 11th, the Greenville City Council unanimously approved the construction of three new camping platforms along the Tar River. The new platforms will be constructed this year and will be located at River Park North, the Phill Carroll Nature Preserve and east of Port Terminal on Greenville Utilities property. The platforms are made possible with funding support from the City of Greenville.
Additionally, Sound Rivers received notification of award of a Recreational Trails grant from the state to construct three ADA compliant kayak launches. The new launches will be constructed at Port Terminal in Greenville, Mason’s Landing on Tranters Creek in Washington and Havens Gardens also in Washington. Funding support has been provided by the NC Wildlife Resource Commission and the Cities of Greenville and Washington.
