Take a tour of the new kayak launch at Havens Garden
Posted on March 4th, 2021
Spring is making its way to eastern North Carolina, and warmer weather means more people will be out kayaking and paddleboarding the local waterways. A new kayak launch at Havens Garden in Washington will ease their way onto the water and the Pamlico-Tar Water Trail. The launch has been years in the planning, a partnership between Sound Rivers, the City of Washington and the Wildlife Resources Commission, courtesy of a $100,000 Recreational Trails Program grant.
The kayak launch is awaiting its last piece: a cement pad at the base of the ramp where paddlers can offload their vessels.
Take a tour of the new launch with Pamlico-Tar Riverkeeper Jill Howell!
