Swim Guide season is upon us, and Volunteer Coordinator Emily Fritz is looking for a few good volunteers to help us out with this popular water-quality program!
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, volunteers collect water samples every Thursday morning at more than 50 popular recreational sites across the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico. Those samples are delivered to Sound Rivers and tested for bacteria. Then we let everyone know where it’s safe to swim!
If you have Thursday mornings free, we’d love to have your help at the following sites:
Upper Neuse:
– Hickory Hill Boat Ramp, Falls Lake
– Ledge Rock Boat Ramp, Falls Lake
– Highway 50 Boat Ramp, Falls Lake
Lower Neuse:
– Brice’s Creek at Creekside Park, New Bern
– Maple Cypress Boat Ramp, Grifton
– Pollocksville Boating Access
– Slocum Creek Boating Access, Havelock
Tar-Pamlico:
– Blounts Bay
– Bonners Point
– Cotton Patch Landing
– Wrights Creek Boating Access Area
Email Emily at emily@soundrivers.org to volunteer for Swim Guide today!
PS — you get a Sound Rivers Volunteer T-shirt, too!
