Longtime volunteer Joe Hester watches over the barbecue proceedings.
A former Sound Rivers board member wowed party guests with his culinary skills last week at a Sound Rivers Oyster Roast-related fundraiser.
For many years, past Sound Rivers board member and Oriental resident Jim Kellenberger has donated a “pig pickin'” to the Oyster Roast auction. Sound Rivers’ members Bill and Sara Hanifin, winners of Jim’s 2022 donation, got a barbecue for 40 guests, which included a roasted, sustainably raised pig, coleslaw, baked sweet potatoes, beans and rolls — and some help from some friends.
With the help of Sound Rivers board member Betsy Hester and Betsy’s husband Joe, Communications Director Vail Rumley, and the hosts themselves, Bill and Sara, Jim dished out a crowd-pleasing dinner at Highwater Social in Washington.
Thanks, Jim, for the donation of your time, effort and great food!
