Riverkeeper reacts to Lake Crabtree Park closure

A path popular with hikers and bikers in Lake Crabtree Park.

The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority is reclaiming the majority of Lake Crabtree Park, forcing Wake County to shut down hundreds of acres of walking and bike trails.

“It is a real shame to see these well-loved public trails being closed so the airport can develop this forested area,” said Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop. “A lot of people spoke out against it, and it seems that our community leaders could come up with better options for these trails.”
