Calling all Witches & Warlocks!

Oct. 26 is the 2nd-annual Witches Paddle, and we’re blowing it out of the water with this year’s event!

Inner Banks Outfitters and Pitt Street Brewing on the Pamlico are teaming up with Sound Rivers for this fundraising paddle along the Washington waterfront — and adding a costume contest (with prizes!) to the fun!

Dress to the witchy (or warlock-y) nines; bring your own vessels (kayaks/canoes/paddleboards, nothing motorized); and we’ll set off on an evening paddle of the Washington waterfront with a fly-by at Pitt Street Brewing on the Pamlico (the costume contest judges’ hangout).

Judges will choose one finalist in the following categories: Witchiest Witch (or Warlock); Spookiest Ride (best-decorated vessel); and Best Howl-O-Ween Duo (for those bringing their spirit canines along for the ride!), then they’ll decide who takes first-, second- and third-place overall!

Timeline:
4:45 p.m. Meetup/unload vessels on the Washington waterfront (kayak launch at the west end of the waterfront);
5 p.m. (VERY) brief meeting about paddle route;
5:15 p.m. Launch;
6:30 p.m. Judges announce winners at Pitt Street!

Top prize is TWO tickets to the best party on the Pamlico: the Sound Rivers Oyster Roast on Nov. 15!

This event is free and open to the public. The only thing we ask is that participants make a donation to Sound Rivers — all donations will go to Sound Rivers’ Water Quality Fund to support your Riverkeeping team’s investigations! There will be a donation bucket on site.

It was a great time last year — this year, it’s gonna be epic!
