Sound Rivers’ monthly virtual science series continued on May 11 with host Pamlico-Tar Riverkeeper Jill Howell and Justine Neville, a PhD candidate in forestry and environmental resources at N.C. State University, who discussed how saltwater intrusion due to sea-level rise is transforming our coastal ecosystem. Justine explains why saltwater intrusion is happening, its effects and what can be done about it in the fascinating look at her area of study, the Albemarle-Pamlico peninsula.
