In December of 2015, the NC DOT finalized an environmental impact statement for the proposed Havelock Bypass for Route 70. Lower Neuse Riverkeeper Travis Graves, along with the Southern Environmental Law Center and Sierra Club, submitted comments and is closely evaluating this project. The project will impact more than 100 acres of wetlands and close to 3,000 feet of stream. More information will be coming soon.
