National Paddle Week sunset paddle: New Bern

Join Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop and other Sound Rivers' staff for an evening paddle to celebrate National Paddle Week!

Riverkeepers across North Carolina are hosting paddles to highlight your waterways for National Paddle Week: this one will take you on a journey down the peaceful waters of Brice's Creek. Enjoy an evening paddle with native wildlife and vibrant flora through unique ecosystems of the eastern coastal tidelands.

Sound Rivers' kayaks can be reserved for this paddle, and those with their own are welcome! Meetup is at 5:45 p.m. at Merchant's Grocery, 1801 Brices Creek Road, New Bern; put in is at Brice's Creek boat ramp, National Forest Road.

Additional details: bring bottled water, bug spray and any other personal supplies you would want while paddling!

Loose on the Neuse 2025

Save the date!

Sound Rivers is proud to team up with Orvis Raleigh and Neuse River Outfitters for this epic river clean-up and afterparty on Aug. 3.

Check in is at 9:30 a.m. at the large picnic shelter at Anderson Point Park where participants will be shuttled to the Milburnie launch site. If you’re on the water, rafts with water and beverages will be staged along the paddle. Our endpoint will be back at Anderson Point Park, where your car will be waiting for you! 

After the clean-up, stick around and celebrate at the afterparty at Anderson Point! Enjoy music, beer, lawn games and a raffle with Loose on the Neuse prizes and swag!

It's lining up to be a great event! Come on out and join Orvis Raleigh, Neuse River Outfitters and Sound Rivers staff and board members for a great cause and a great time!

Be a part of Sound Rivers’ Water Watch team!

Join Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop, Pamlico-Tar Riverkeeper Katey Zimmerman and Sound Rivers' Water Quality Specialist Taylor Register for this in-person training where you’ll learn everything you need to know to be a part of the Sound Rivers Water Watch team.

This Water Watch training will be held 5:30 – 7 p.m. on Aug. 20 in Washington.

The location will be announced.

Get trained in the field to collect scientific observations about water quality, flooding, erosion, habitat and more. With your help, your Riverkeeping team can monitor and protect more stream miles in the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico watersheds, and build a community of volunteers who know their water-quality science!
