Join Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop and Water Quality Specialist Taylor Register on an evening paddle of Slocum Creek! Discover this beautiful and endangered waterway — a favorite with area paddlers — and learn about the threats facing it. Surrounded by Slocum Creek’s natural beauty, Sam and Taylor will be sharing the work they’ve done to track elevated bacteria in the creek and partner with the city and county to find solution to the ongoing pollution.

Bring your own water and/or snacks, your own kayak (if you have one) or Sound Rivers has kayaks available on a first come, first served basis.

There is no cost associated with this event, however, in an effort to offset our costs, a suggested donation of $15 would be appreciated. All donations will go toward staff time, gas and your Riverkeepers’ sampling work on Slocum Creek through Sound Rivers’ Water Quality Fund.

Meet up is at 5 p.m. at the Slocum Creek Recreation Area in Havelock. We’ll look forward to seeing you there!
