Muddy Water Watch training

Event Date: July 27, 2023 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

As North Carolina watersheds continue to be developed at an alarming rate, Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop and Haw Riverkeeper Emily Sutton are reviving a program to keep an eye on sediment pollution.

Sam and Emily will be hosting a Muddy Water Watch training via Zoom on July 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Volunteers will get the knowledge necessary to properly identify and report sediment and erosion control violations, which are the leading cause of water pollution in the nation.

For the Neuse River watershed, the sediment and erosion pollution issue is greatest in the Durham area, where thousands of acres of land are being clear-cut to make way for new housing developments, primarily in the Lick Creek area. Sam is seeking volunteers to help spot violations. If you think you might be interested, complete this form to register and receive the ZOOM link to the training.
