Calling all cleanup volunteers! The Granville County Environmental Affairs Committee and Sound Rivers are partnering for a Tar River cleanup in memory of Marshall Floyd, a longtime Sound Rivers volunteer, member of the Environmental Affairs advisory committee, avid canoeist, environmentalist and more.

The cleanup will be held 9 a.m. April 30 in Oxford. Meet at the Granville County Expo and Convention Center by 8:45 a.m. Teams will be sent out from there.

We advise wearing closed-toe shoes, long pants, a weather-appropriate long-sleeved shirt (clothing you don’t mind getting dirty). We will provide water, trash pickers and garbage bags and will have bug spray and sunscreen available.

Also partnering with us on the Marshall Floyd Memorial Cleanup is Strong Arm Bakery in Oxford. They have generously offered to provide coffee and morning treats for our awesome volunteers! Thank you, Strong Arm!
