and sometimes safety comes first, and you need to stay the hell out of the water.
LOOSE ON THE NEUSE HAS BEEN CANCELED.
Fast-moving water has been the nemesis of Loose on the Neuse this year. Its original date in August was rescheduled because of heavy rains and much-too-fast flow, and now, NOW, the Army Corps of Engineers informed us on Wednesday that they’re going to be releasing Falls Dam through the weekend, which means the water is going to be moving WAY too fast for us to be trying to pick up trash from kayaks.
Yep, we’re pretty disappointed. But we hope to see everyone next year at this epic cleanup and celebration of the Neuse River. Between now and then, however, Orvis-Raleigh will be hosting a Neuse River party on a date to be announced and Sound Rivers will be there! We’ll keep you apprised of the details!
