Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop (center) hashes out a plan for monitoring Ellerbe Creek with ECWA members (left to right) Kriddie Whitmore, Brenna Johnson and John Dorney.

In partnership with the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association and Carolina Wetlands Association, Neuse Riverkeeper Samantha Krop invites you to explore this beloved creek and wetlands in the heart of Durham. Meet up with local stewards of the creek and wetland experts to talk about the unique wetlands and aquatic habitat in Ellerbe. They’ll also be talking about Sound Rivers’ work documenting sediment pollution in Ellerbe Creek, an issue that has been increasingly gaining attention due to high levels of runoff impacting the creek from an upstream construction site (read more here). Join us for a walk in Ellerbe’s wetlands and a discussion about water quality and how local community can get involved in protecting this important creek in Durham!

Meetup location is at the Pearl Mill Nature Preserve north entrance, 703 Green St., Durham. Waders will be provided (or bring your own!)

Registration is required. Please fill out the form below!
