DEQ biogas permit public hearings announced

DEQ announced public hearings for the opportunity to the public to comment on the draft biogas general permits. There will be three in person meetings and one virtual hearing. We continue to be engaged on the development of these general permits for biogas operations. While, to our knowledge, there have not been any proposed biogas projects at swine facilities in the Tar-Pamlico and Neuse River basins, we do anticipate that to be a possibility in the future and are concerned about the potential impacts to water resources and communities, as well as industry investment in technologies that rely on the outdated lagoon and sprayfield system of waste management.
