Ed Rhine with Ashley Vansant, explaining commitment to Save Blount Creek
Joe Barlett of Blounts Creek was the lucky raffle winner of the one of a kind canoe/kayak built by local Washington resident Ed Rhine. Ashley Vansant, President and Publisher of the Washington Daily News, selected the winning raffle ticket at 3PM at the Washington, NC Smoke on the Water event. The raffle raised $10,000 for Sound Rivers to support the efforts to prevent a discharge of up to 12 million gallons of fresh water to brackish Blounts Creek. Ed Rhine is pictured along with Vansant as Ed explained the purpose of the raffle and the importance of the battle to Save Blounts Creek.
Sound Rivers is extraordinarily lucky to work with individuals like Ed Rhine and an entire community that has rallied together to protect important natural treasures like Blounts Creek!
