Many thanks to science teacher Anna Setzer and the Washington High School Science Club for adopting the trash trap on a tributary of Jack’s Creek for the month of May!

The Jack’s Creek trash trap and 10 others are part of Sound Rivers’ Litter-Free Rivers program.

Last week, Setzer and students Eva Hill and Jordan Burton collected 32 pounds of trash from the trash trap and the creek’s banks, preventing it from floating downstream to the Pamlico River.

Volunteer Coordinator Emily Fritz said she hopes to continue working with Setzer and the science club when school starts again in the fall.

Would your group be interested in adopting a trash trap? We’d love to have your help! Email Emily at emily@soundrivers.org.
