Sound Rivers Board

Steve Smith is a Raleigh native, a retired lawyer and prior Chair of the N.C. Environmental Management Commission. He’s also spent many years enjoying hiking, camping and canoeing.

“We no longer have the luxury of taking clean water for granted. I’m involved with Sound Rivers because the organization and all its staff are so active and effective in working to protect the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico river basins — the water my family and I drink and use every day,” Steve said.
