Sound Rivers Board

Dr. Siddhartha “Sid” Mitra is a professor of organic geochemistry, interim chair of the Department of Coastal Studies and director of the East Carolina University’s flagship coastal program, the Integrated Coastal Sciences PhD program. Sid brings a wealth of knowledge to Sound Rivers, with degrees in mechanical engineering, chemistry and environmental science and marine science.

“I’ve followed Sound Rivers and their work over the years and have been incredibly impressed with their dedication and passion for protecting the environment,” Sid said.

Sid lives in Greenville with his wife and three children — all boys, which he says has led to “a thriving food detritus-driven domestic floor-level ecosystem.”
