Tell Me About It Tuesday: North Carolina’s Complicated Relationship with Stormwater

Event Date: January 11, 2022 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Sound Rivers’ virtual science series, Tell Me About It Tuesdays, returns in the new year with “North Carolina’s Complicated Relationship with Stormwater.” Tune in at 7 p.m. on Jan. 11 with Dr. Rachel Noble for this talk about increased coastal development, recreational use of high priority estuaring and coastal waters, increasing King Tide events, and unpredictable stormwater discharge patterns, which all threaten North Carolina’s water quality.  During periods of time when tidal inundation and storm periods intersect, there is serious risk for standing floodwaters, as well as rampant contamination of coastal waters. Dr. Noble’s laboratory has been working for over a decade with coastal towns to identify, prioritize and remediate wastewater and stormwater infrastructure. There is much more to be done! Noble is a distinguished professor of marine science at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Fill out the form below to get the Zoom link!
