
On the Tar-Pamlico: Earth Day 2023

Earth Day 2023 is coming and the Cypress Group of the Sierra Club is inviting everyone to “Invest in our Planet” and celebrate riverside at Town Common in Greenville. On April 22, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., join Sound Rivers’ Pamlico-Tar Riverkeeper Jill Howell, members of the Cypress Group, the City of Greenville, Greenville Environmental Advisory Commission, groups from East Carolina University, Pitt County Community College, and a bunch of other eastern NC environmental groups on the Tar River in downtown Greenville.
Earth Day activities include: live music and food trucks; free kayaking/paddle boating on the Tar River; tours of the Town Creek Culvert with the stormwater management system’s designer; electric vehicle demos; storytelling, arts/crafts activities, fossil digs and more (for the kids); native plants exhibit for home gardens (examples for purchase); student exhibits from ECU, PCC, local schools and local environmental groups; “Upcycled” fashion show presented by ECU students.
Rain date will be April 29, same time and place!
