On Monday Governor Cooper vetoed a bill (Senate Bill 711) that would give industrial hog corporations greater protections than the neighbors and waterways next to where they spray their waste. Your help is needed to sustain the veto!
Under this new bill, the ability of adjacent property owners to protect their property and recover damages for real and lasting injuries, like water contamination and health problems, would be taken away. This would create a “sacrifice zone” around industrial agricultural operations in which homeowners would not be able to protect their family’s health or the use and enjoyment of their property.
Please call your state lawmakers today and ask them to side with homeowners and the environment, and sustain the Governor’s veto on Senate Bill 711.
