Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Training – Washington

Calling All Citizen Scientists!

Are you interested in volunteering this summer for the Sound Rivers water quality program, and getting our data into Swim Guide? We need volunteers in both the Tar-Pamlico and Lower Neuse Basins to collect water samples weekly from Memorial Day through Labor Day. These water samples will be analyzed for fecal bacteria and results will be posted on the Sound Rivers website and the Swim Guide smartphone app.

No experience is required! At this event volunteers will be trained on proper collection methods, and will get to see how the samples are processed with our lab equipment.

Training dates are:
Washington – Wednesday May 23rd from 6:30-7:30pm
Sound Rivers Washington office – 108 Gladden St.

New Bern – Thursday May 24th from 6:30-7:30pm
Sound Rivers New Bern office – 2207 Trent Blvd.

If you would like to be a citizen scientist with Sound Rivers this summer and help educate the public about safe water, please contact us at volunteer@soundrivers.org!
